SUSPECTS

Mr Gambino – the most suspicious person in this case. Was seen researching the moors, and had an article about the robbery over the summer. Kate the maid told us that his trousers are often muddy and torn – it sounds as though he has been searching the moors as well! Has he purchased a dog to help follow the scent of the robbers to the missing money?

Mr Holtz – we noticed his boots were covered with mud from the moors, when as a librarian he would have no reason to leave school grounds. He also seems lonely, and he seemed to hint at knowing about the Junior Pinkertons. Did he buy Baskerville to help keep him company – and discover our detective notes in the cave?

Bob Featherstonehaugh – unlikely, for it is very hard for boys to get out of school every day, and Baskerville looks well fed, but we did find his pyjama bottoms in the cave so we can’t rule him out. We’re unable to think of a good reason for him to decide to hide a secret puppy near to school grounds, though, unless he wants to trace the missing money – but if he did, he’d probably have told us by now!

Squeers and his gang – just as unlikely as Bob, really, though they were there when Bly Minor was bitten, and they are horrid enough to have bought a dog and trained it to attack people!
